    A February 2019 federal court ruling answered some of the questions left open by the U.S. Supreme Court’s narrow ruling in Christian Legal Society v. Martinez. Since the June 2010 Supreme Court decision, public colleges and universities have sought guidance on the law’s implications and the extent to which they may require recognized student groups to comply with institutional nondiscrimination policies.

    Minors as Visitors in Campus Housing

    From “Little Siblings Weekend” to prospective student visits, children under age 18 occasionally visit and stay overnight in college and university housing. United Educators’ claims show that visiting minors have been injured due to slips and falls, alcohol use, sexual assaults, and physical assaults. Institutions can prevent many of these incidents by adopting and enforcing policies and procedures to educate host students and emphasize safety.
