    New Learning Program: Crisis Response

From natural disasters to active shooters, tragedies at schools and campuses often gain national attention and prompt institutions to consider their ability to respond to such crises. But what about internal crises, which often involve issues of reputational risk? How prepared are you to address incidents such as a sexual assault during a study abroad trip or embezzlement by a financial aid staff member? Any incident, large or small, can negatively impact the reputation or financial strength of your institution. UE’s new learning program, Crisis Within: Preparing Your Institution's Response, can help your institution prepare, improve, and test your crisis response plan to address a wide range of situations.

The Crisis Within learning program features:

    • An online course aimed at identifying crisis response team members and proper planning, training, and testing of plans to respond to internal crises.
    • A video tutorial showing how to conduct a table top exercise at your institution, from planning to executing, and all points in between. The video also includes a brief demonstration of a facilitated table top exercise.
    • Sample table top scenarios enable you to apply what’s learned from watching the video by conducting a table top exercise at your campus or school. This guide contains scenarios related to student sexual assault during a study abroad program, hazing on an athletic team, and employee expense report fraud.
    • The Best Practices Checkup tool measures your institution's ability to address a crisis. This risk assessment tool can help you assess your preparedness concerning crisis response planning, crisis communications, and testing your plan.

The program also includes several job aids and resources so that learners can explore additional information.

If you have any questions or need assistance with the program, please contact A risk management advisor will respond promptly.
