About This Resource

Physical and emotional abuse by coaches is a far too common occurrence in athletics. In this study, United Educators examined coach-on-athlete abuse claims received from 2014 through 2018. School administrators can use the data and lessons from this study to inform their review of athletic department practices. By extending administrative oversight over athletic department activities and training athletes and coaches to recognize abuse, schools can minimize employee-student power differentials and protect vulnerable athletes.
